Well this one isn't quite done yet, but with everyone talking crystal chassis', I figured I would go ahead and show whats done so far.

Some may remember this saber, the Viridian Virtue:

A few weeks ago it started randomly shutting off while it was being used. I always wanted to go back and redo some of the wiring in this one and I figured this was a sign that it was time. So I gutted it and planned out all the changed I would make.

Its going to be using the same Obi MR soundboard but thats about it. Newly added will be a rechargable setup using a 3.7v Trustfire Li-ion and recharge port, a new lighted pommel setup, added 3mm led to light a acrylic crystal, and an led swap from the Seoul P4 to a new Luxeon Rebel.

First up is the chassis. Constructed using a TCSS speaker mount, 6/32 threaded rod, 3/16" brass tubing, brass knurled nuts, brass stop nuts, and some custom machined 6061 aluminum discs.

The results:

The speaker mount is tapped to accept the threaded rod. I then put a dab of superglue on the rod to lock it in place. I glued them in so I can tighten the whole thing down using the brass nuts at the top without the rod spinning and threading down too far into the speaker mount. The tubing is cut down and clamped in between the discs and the speaker mount.

I got a bunch of these discs made so now I can easily make new chassis' for any MHS based build. ;)

I will try to get the electronics done soon. I'm bouncing back and forth between this saber and a completly new build. Both will hopefully be done in the next few weeks.

Haha! The funny thing is I bought those like a couple days before you posted that thread with the crystal chamber. I guess great minds think alike. ;-)

What, Raf?

EDIT: Oh, I think what he mean't to say was that the ID of MHS is 1.25", which is likely to be the OD of the disks.

They're actually 1 7/32". I had them made 1/32" smaller than the ID of the hilt so they would slide in easier. This project got put on the backburner since I've got a lot of other things going on. It will eventually get done, but since it was for my now EX girlfriend it will be waiting until I get my other projects finished up.
