One of the best ways to know people is, quite simply, to know what music that person listens to. So, I want to know, what are you currently listening to?

I'll start off.

KOTOKO - We Survive.

Yes. It's J-pop

i can't get Kathy Valentine's "Light Years" outta my CD player, if friggin' rocks. she sounds so much like Debbie Harry it ain't even funny (doesn't hurt that Clem Burke played drums on most of the tracks, either)

and MC Lars totally rules, too. you can find his stuff on Limewire easily, which he encourages. I got to meet him about a month ago when he played in Charlotte...totally cool dude.

Captain Trunk: "I thought you said you knew how to pull a punch!"

Sledge Hammer: "I did pull it. If I had hit you full-force, you would have landed in that parking lot out there."

Electric Light Orchestra, U2: ...Atomic Bomb, Third Day, etc. I've probably listened to most of the bands on this page, by choice, at one time or another. I almost never listen to the radio anymore. The last "good" secular music imho was in the late nineties with Alice in Chains and Smashing Pumpkins - the metal that came out during "the grunge era."

Mi Gin Gonn
06-26-2006, 02:44 PM
I second that, desertscorpion, about radio. It's so repetitive and crappy it's become unlistenable. I get really bummed out on days I gotta go to work and realize I forgot my CD player to listen to in the truck.

Countdown, what is your problem? Do you have to throw a tantrum when someone's thread that is similar does better? What kind of music you listen to can be summed up in one post and that's it. The thread dies, we all forget. What are you listening to can always be added to, your library increases doesn't it? Please stop acting like a child, suck it up, be a man.

currently blasting "Flat Tracker" from Zeke.

Zeke is musically what you'd get if you attached a Les Paul to a GSXR motorcycle and ran it into a brickwall at 200MPH.

I got a little Alien Ant Farm going right now, their take of Smooth Criminal is so freakin cool. On the way home from the beach I left it on the same number on the tuner on started off with rock/80's metal that switched to classic rock Cheap Tricks Surrender is such a great driving song and by the time I got back in to Richmond range it was "today's country" I love Reba, Brooks and Dunn, and of course Toby Kieth but I ain't to keen on the dixie chix.

Glenn Beck...

Every weekday from 9-12 on the local Talk Radio and 7,9 & Midnight in Headline News.

Not exactly music, or what I'm listening to right this second, but it's the only show I listen to on a regular basis. I just about never listen to music when I'm on the 'puter.

He's the #3 Talk Show in America, as informative as Rush but not so arrogant and biased, and funnier.

Well, from here on out it will be pretty much Christmas music for us all the time. Thursday morning I put a receiver, dvd, and a pair of Polks in the kitchen, found a all month long Christmas music station and we are good to go.

Nah regular drum sets are never gonna decline, if yyou see musitions out there hardly ever think of using eletric sets. unless your missing an arm then I can see the use of an eletric set.

I can tell you all one band I'm definitely NOT listening to.. Green Day. They suck, no talent, they suck so bad they suck at sucking. I can't wait for the MCR - Teenagers vid to come out. Famous Last Words is the 2nd most viewed video on youtube all-time and I Don't Love You is creeping up on it. Teenagers is better than I Don't Love You in terms of the song, I hope the video is just as good as the last few.

I'm not really into that Punk, ska, emo, skater style of music. I'm more of a Metal Head.

Darth_Constantine
05-14-2007, 03:29 PM
MCR is definitely not skater, ska or emo. It's definitely punk, but they can play more than power chords. They're probably a nice mix of classic style and punk. "Welcome To The Black Parade" was based heavily on "Ziggy Stardust" by David Bowie, "Killer Queen" by Queen and "Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club" by The Beatles. If that's not classic rock, tell me what is. Metal's alright, I have my ozzie every now and again. But Marilyn Manson makes me want to puke, I wouldn't listen to his music if you paid me. I'm not going to listen to someone who looks like that.

vortextwist

Darth_Constantine
05-14-2007, 03:37 PM
okay well if you consider them to be rock, then metal makes me throw up. There just aren't any good metal singers. I'm just not a fan of screamo, death metal, or pretty much anything metal. Now, occasionally I will listen to Disturbed, just because the monkey noises are hilarious. I have a friend who goes crazy and starts dancing every time he hears Down With The Sickness.

Ryma Mara
05-14-2007, 08:13 PM
well green day has been around for many mnay years. I thought it was funny when they released that new one of theres americal something or other.

Millions thought they were a new band. roffelcoptors.

But I like some punk but emo ska I do not I like my metal I like my death metal, I like my goth metal(and AFI is not goth rock or goth core as they calme to be they are emo and will alwase be emo).

and the person that said emo was derived from punk needs to be shot in teh face for they know nothing of music.

Darth_Constantine
05-14-2007, 09:09 PM
It definitely wasn't me who said that. I don't know who said Emo came from punk. Yeah, AFI sucks, you know why? because they're bi, you can be straight and be a good band, you can be gay and be a good band, but bi? nope it just doesn't work, JK. But AFI still sucks. Someone should saber their video director's head off for sucking so bad. Green Day & AFI, all they seem to do is play power chords. I certainly like my Blink 182. Anyone here a fan of System of a Down?

Ryma Mara
05-14-2007, 09:41 PM

I've been accused of having strange tastes in music. I think it comes from my listening to music a person wouldn't normally listen to if you saw what I look like.

When I'm doing anything requiring concentration, I've usually got some KMFDM or Front Line Assembly going. If I'm trying to relax, I go towards the classics like Bach, Rachmaninoff, Chopin. For general listening, it's typically whatever pop junk is on the radio at the time.

I have a cousin who looks sooooo emo, he even has fake wrist slits, yet listens to and sings country music. What's even weirder is that he hates all rock and metal.

playlist streamed at work.

Still some classics on there:

Blue Oyster cult - Don't fear the Reaper

Meat Loaf - Bat out of Hell (full version)

But a whole heap of trash from the charts ATM.

If only they'd let me play my stuff! Goo Goo Dolls, Our Lady Peace & Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly would be pretty much the whole list. Oh Well.
