Hello all
This is my first saber. I had it nearly completed with just the sound and MHS parts, but I felt tht I needed to go for a more complex design. I also wanted to do a crystal chamber in the choke point, but wanted it to be a little more than just a viewing window. I went about drilling into my choke, and it did not go so well, thus the very large cutout for the crystal. I actually like this alot more than what I had first planned on doing. I finished wiring everything together this weekend, and polished the hilt up. I still felt that it needed more, so the final saber has a leather wrap stitched together at the activation box. The pictures below show the saber through to finish. It also needs a name. I have left it nameless to this point.

Specs:
Screw on LED blade holder style 10
MHS choke style 1 short
Activation box style 4 with a red illuminating switch.
6" Double female threaded connector
MPS Pommel style 6
MPS Insert style 1
Seoul P4 White
UltraSound 2.5
Accent led
Crystal chamber with real quartz crystal
3.7v Li-Ion Battery with recharge port

I like the cutout in the choke! Don't see a lot like that (not many people are brave enough to chop up a MHS part).

I'm sure you will give it a name fitting of its style :) Choose something that has meaning to you.

Interesting.

I do hope you're not planning on dueling with that saber, though.

Nice! And yeah... intense dueling is probably out of the question here.
But a really nice first saber, crystal chamber too!

wow that is VERY cool. did you take a mill to that cut out on the choke? minus the cutout and crystal, that looks alot like my Oddyseus Saber (in sig)

i love that style nice to see others do to. it needs some blinkies though. lots of them. go my style and overkill lol. wonderfull first saber. i love it.

but do NOT duel with that saber. omg please? that choke will snap l like a twig. im a machinist i know. ;):mrgreen::mrgreen::mrgreen:

Looks great. Like others have said it's to bad you can't really duel with it but it looks really cool. I like modifying MHS myself. Makes it more unique.

No, I did not take a mill to it. I sawed it up, and filed it down. My milling job massacred the top(not really, I just couldn't get it even, so I took the whole top off...I have the illuminating switch blink when on standby(connected to L2) I wish I had more though. I would probably have done more if I had the know how/room for the blinkies(the saber is really full, but not as full as some cram-fu masters out there). I do not Not plan on dueling with this saber, this one will most likely be a shelf kepper. I have another in the works for dueling...and the obsession continues.

That is a most excellent saber. Love the choke/window a la Starkiller. I'm not usually big on exposed crystals, but I really like this one.

what would REALLY complete this sabers look IMO are low profile metal grips like on my oddyseus but allumium not brass. because the allumium with white really WORKS AWESOMELY!!! i dont know you may not like metal grips. people have different preferances ;)

but yeah if you want.... get some metal grips for it. there easy to make yourself even without a mill. go to like an ace hardware and they should have small metal strips back by the screws. i would suggest .064 thickness. then all you have to do is cut them evenly. (i would take a grinder and chamfer the ends for comfort... i highly recomend this) then carefully drill holes on either end as even as possible (this would be the most tricky part) polish them up and then thats done
then make a template on graph paper for your holes you will have to drill and tap on the hilt. mount the graph paper. drill em... tap that... then viola just mount em up...

OR!!!!

you could ask tim to machine you a set with a radius on the bottom so they sit flush. then just use some good adhesive and you have some WONDERFUL low profile metal grips.

i just love the feel of metal grips. i dont know why i just prefer them over everything else. and i think they look alot better then rubber grips. makes a saber look more elegant.

I have metal grips on a sink tube that I put together, but I don't really like the edges. I kind of hurts to hold/squeeze with bare hands. The leather actually feels great with the smooth hilt.

Thanks!? I have been reading alot. I learn quickly, and if you saw my other post "New to the Forum" I have been lurking for 3 or so years. I had all of the parts last year but never really completed the hilt. When I destroyed the chocke section, I needed to do something to make it look elegant. Haha. I think it worked.

I knew there was something fishy about your title... LOL, now I know. Well, in all seriousness, great job, and I hope to see more from you!

.

thats why im sayin chamfer the ends of them and polish them. they wash out the corners. exacty what i did on the oddyseus and they feel bomb. no hurting what so ever. heck T grips hurt more. lol.

but hey its your saber. you do what you want ;) still looks bad @$$

Thanks. I have the edges rounded. I should have clarified. I think it hurts more due to the screws sticking out rather than sharp grips. I really don't like t-grips. They look good, but hurt like no other. Is THIS what you propose?(below image) I also can't take the electronics out anymore. They are basically in there for good(short wiring). I had little room once I added the crystal parts in.

since other FAR more knowledgable members have mentioned the "Don't duel with this sabre" point...I will simply say, awesome!

on an aside...I love the leather grip around the box style one. I want to do the same with my next sabre...the Sith one.
do you practice swinging this sabre at all? if so, do you have any problems with the box style one interfering with you? (or if anyone else knows)

enjoy the sabre man.

hey there ya go!!!! get a sleeve that resembles mara grips! those things are comfy man let me tell ya. then just hold it on with a couple set screws, tighten up good and tight and that thing would look totally complete!!!

i think tim sells mara style sleeve material if im not mistaken let me check...

YES here ya go dude. i recomend this 1000% this would look sick! http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/MHS-Sleeve-1-P455.aspx.

dang i wish that saber was mine. lol.

tim we love you! :D

Good stuff for a first, PC. I hear you on the hand tools. Maybe I'm just old school, but I still use hacksaws, files, sand paper, and pipe cutters... I'm no good with all them fancy-schmancy, high-tech, smart-kid-toys... ;) That's Strydur's job. :D

I used a covertec to hold on my grip sleeve works fine.

Thanks! I don't have much trouble with the box interfering with me. I like it high on the hilt rather than low like a luke saber. Just a preference.

As I said before, I can't really take this one apart to add the extra grips, but maybe on the next saber...for dueling. Thanks for the advice.:mrgreen::mrgreen:

Awesome saber. Lovin' that crystal chamber! I know it's been said a million times, but don't duel with that saber. I'd hate to see a wonderful saber that go to waste.

you wouldnt have to take the saber apart to add the grips. its a sleeve it just slides over the section thats bare. all you would need to do or have stryder to is drill and tap some holes in the sleeve part for a couple set screws and then slide it over, tighten the set screws and viola. no dissasembly required. just a quick add on.

That might work well. I would have to cut the section an inch down, but that is no problem. The end of my hilt in the pics, is like 3 inches, where that is four. It would look good though. thanks for the set screw tip, I didn't even think about that.

no problem. have tim or if you have someone you know with lathe cut it down an inch and chamfer it. make it look even. but yeah no problem. just tryin to help out my fellow sabersmiths. :P i just really like your saber.
