Okay, I'm guessing that there are plenty of minors on this website, myself included, and I think that there should be at least one gray Jedi/other force-user costuming group specifically for minors. What do you think?

And what would be the goal of this group?

To... make... costumes?
Perhaps?
:p

Umm J-Lo how'd you miss the ad in his signature???

And not that you're allowed to solicit on this site FYI, what do you take commissions on anyway???

Explanation: most costuming groups are mainly for adults, and therefore you must be 18 or older to have a FULL membership. I was suggesting a costuming group specifically for people UNDER 18.

What ad in his sig? Did he change it? There are a lot of people who have a link to their Deviant Art page, or their own website.

I also don't see anything solicitous about his posts here.

I'm still wondering what the goal of this group would be, besides making costumes.

Like some kind of real life get togethers? Meeting at Conventions? What?

I'm a member of the Rebel Legion and together with the 501st, we do conventions, Charity events and Promotional events for LFL.

We can't have minors as members because of liability issues. When we are out there in costume, we are always representing LFL, even when not doing an event directly for them. Because they are not adults, minors cannot be legally responsible for themselves, even with parental consent.

That doesn't mean that kids aren't welcome to come out in costume with their parents, depending on the event. And now, there's a "Galactic Academy" that's being started for kids who are interested in costuming.

So anyway, I'm not sure what the ultimate goal for this "group" is, but you will still be limited as to what you can do, because you are minors.

Yeah he had "I take commissions" in his link, looks like he got my point an removed it.

Because his link has pics of sabers in it, it could have be construed that he'd make sabers for people.

Looks like it's sorted now.

Well, you could allways try this place:
http://903rd.proboards.com/

Its mainly a board for Non-Canon costumes, and i dont think
they have an age-limit.

Just have a look around, see what you think.

Kind of an offshoot of the 501st/rebel legion

No. If you think that, then you must have missed something. There are 3 age groups: 0-7, 8-12, and 13-17.

i saw nothing that said anything about 3 age groups on the galactic academy page, and judging by the looks of the members they're all between 1 and 12 years old

Yes it is basically in its infancy but the general idea and thought is/was to get the young ones who suit up with their parents (0-7) into something similar to what their parents are in. 8-12 to enjoy the company of other like minded children and 13-17 to get their gear set for eventual inclusion into one of the many Star Wars Costuming groups (not just the RL or 501st)

The Academy encourages costumers from both the Empire and the Republic, so no matter what your age or affiliation you will find a home with us. If you have a Star Wars costume, Imperial or Republic, and you are under 18 years of age, the Galactic Academy is the place for you.
Simply follow the instructions below on how to join.

The Galactic Academy charges nothing for admission. All we require is a picture to post on the site, permission from the parents (in the form of an email stating name, relation, and permission) to post the picture, and information for the cadet's profile (see applications information below).

Throwing my own 2 cents in since I just turned 15.

I looked at the members as well and honestly, very few of them are older 12. I think this is simply because teens don't really wanna sign up for something with a bunch of little kids on it. I think it would be better to have something reminiscent of 501st or Rebel Legion reserved just for kids between 13-17. Maybe as a precursor to help them go on to the RL or 501st. I wouldn't join the Academy because of the reason I stated and I'd want to go to conventions with other kids my age.
