Hello,

Would it be possible to use this button from radioshack in combination with the Lux 3 red LED kit from the stor?:

SPST 10A 12VDC Illuminated Push Button Switch with Red LED
Link: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2909787

essentially I'd replace the included switch with this one. What confuses me is that it has three prongs, so how would i figure positive and negative, and what is the third prong for?

from the description: 12vdc 10A.
Would this affect the kind of resistor I would need to get?

I'm making two sinktube sabers and just waiting for the parts from TCCS to arrive (the blades, mhs to sinktube adapters, blade holders, lux kits) and would like to use this switch to activate the Lux 3.

Any advice on how to do this, if possible, would be appreciated!

Thanks!

on a quick side note: Just getting into the hobby and enjoying it, I'll be going to celebration 5 as my first con and hopefully have my light sabers done in time :D

The 3rd prong is for the negative of the light inside the switch. Since the LED in the switch is set up for 12 V it will not be too bright with the lower voltage you will be using for it and may not light up much at all.

so would I just have another wire running from the third prong to the negative on the battery pack? And im not sure how to tell which one is which either.. electronics wiring isn't my strong point  lol

Did you scroll down the website page for the costumer reviews?

Pinout Configuration:

For constant light:
1-power
2-Acc
3-ground

Lighted on:
1-Acc
2-power
3-ground

so for it to illuminate when its switched on I would:

put the positive to number 2
the negative to number 1

and the ground goes...?

no, the negative to 3 and the positive to 2.

Yes. You're answering a question from a year ago, asked by someone who hasn't even logged onto the forums since last Sept.

Check the dates of the last post before posting in an old thread.

it is but their are some exceptions.....in this case it's a necropost since nobody replied to the last question since 8/2010...which means he found his answer or he got it answered in the shoutbox by someone
