i'm looking at the tutorial and can see no difference between the 2005 version and the 2004 version, they look the same. so my question is, why wouldn't the conversion work on the 2004 version?

Help me OB Wayne, you're my only hope.

Well, they could be different sizes, but from all accounts the AOTC and ROTS version are interchangable. Tim's probably just covering his butt.[:)]

well if that's the case, i would like to know if it would be possible, whether reccomended or not, to use the conversion kit.

I don't want to create a new topic for this question, but it's not anything I found specifically answered else. Actually the answer may be obvious enough that I shouldn't have had to ask anyway.

If I buy the conversion kit what else to I need?

I'm kidding, don't hurt me.

Really though, once a conversion is done on the Windu does the stock MR blade just slide in? Is there anything like a screw or rod holding it in place, or is it snug enough to stay by itself? Also I'm going to assume that the blade isn't going to look exactly right because the MR blade doesn't have a reflector at the tip.

One other question. I had started taking my saber apart before I found this page (bought used, one section of LEDs was out) so I didn't realize only the switch gold piece needed to come off, is there a certain type of glue you guys would recommend to resecure the other pieces?

The MR blade will NOT fit - it's too small.

There are three blade retention scews in the emitter collar. (Tim actually forgot to send them in my kit, but I was able to make due with three screws from my R/C tools; and I keep forgetting to email Tim about it).

You don't need to glue any parts other than the part of the forward rubber grip that you have to peel back. Even then, the factory sticky stuff might still hold, if you are careful. Just use some Krazy Glue/Super Glue.

i think that there are three screws holding the blade in for the conversion. as far as i know they come with the kit and go where the original three screws went in the emitter

if you look at the battery pack, you should see 5 holes where the pack makes contact with the electronics housing, that would be the thing that i'm talking about. not the pack, but the board that it makes contact with

There in lies the problem, they are either being converted or they are the real early ones that have large collector's value. You may want to try ebay for damaged Maul and Luke sabers.

Mauls will turn up, it's just a matter of time. I have seen a few Lukes go pretty cheap that were used/damaged you just have to keep a look out.

Does anyone know how to get the metal switch off the hilt without scratching up the hilt or the gold switch? Also without breaking the plastic piece the gold plate attaches to? I've had issues with breaking it when trying to pry the gold cover off... Thanks!

It is a hex screw so a swrewdriver will do more harm then good.

You wnat to get a set of small metric and standard allen, hex, whatever you want to call them wrenches.

call me crazy but you might just want to bring the thing into the store with you so you can find the allen wrench. if it still works i probably wouldn't do it but if you are gonna convert it then bring it in.

A bag of asorted craftsman allan wrenches cost like $15. Then you're garanteed to have the right one. Or one that will work. There are standard and metric versions and they come in separate bags.

Just finished my Mace conv. I tried the 5v relay with no luck. I messed with the wiring and found a way that lit up the K2 very nice. I did not use the positive that is normally used. The + came from the orange wire directly from the battery. It seems to make the K2 brighter. Hope this helps someone.

so im in the same mace process here trying to figure out best result...
I will be using k2 white high intensity or whatever + lee filter, do clo suggested...now in terms of wiring, should i just use the mr maces electronics for drivin led? someone said 950mah in the mr which is ok for a 1000mah k2white?

or should i just use a driver on top of the mr mace?

thanks,

jjshumpert

as a foreword i can tell a difference between a k2 run off the mr and a k2 with a relay between it and the mr... but its alot more work to use the relay, its not a very reliable part to add into the wiring, and imo not worth the hassle

use the diagram for the vader and you cant miss, and it is much brighter than using a 3w. the 5w is an option with a little more work, if in the future you plan on going rechargeable with this hilt let me know and ill walk you thru upgrading to a 5w white

Okay I have looked at the Tutorials and my friend broke the blade but the Led Strip is still intact and another fellow Jedi has donated a replacement blade, I recommended Conversion to a Lux but she wants it stock. My big question is will I have to completely tear down this Lightsaber just to change the Blade? Just to expain I have never converted a MR yet. Any advice or Help is appreciated. Thanks.

I haven't taken apart a mace, but on the annakin the pins holding the blade in were the very last thing I had to remove, I would bet the other sabers are the same requiring a complete breakdown to change out the blade.
