Hey all,
I have an MR board missing a blade transistor, and I want to replace it rather than chuck out 50 bucks.
I looked at the text on a transistor on the board and got this:
H
8050
GC SD
:confused::confused:
Does this contain any info at all? If not, does anybody know a part number/transistor type I can get as replacement?
Thanks,
Scott

I did some quick search and found a few datasheets for 8050.
I guess the original transistor is this chinese one:

Alternatives may be:
http://www.datasheetcatalog.org/datasheet/MicroElectronics/mXyzqxst.pdf
or
http://www.fairchildsemi.com/ds/SS%2FSS8050.pdf
Others could be available, 8050 seems to be built by several brands.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!
This is just the answer I needed. Unfortunately I haven't found one in my local electronics places but I did find one that I can get delivered.
Kudos to Don Se Wion! :D

Looks like a simple transistor switch. Replacement should not be critical. I'd try a 2N2222, or a 2N3904. Should be available at Radio Shack. It'll either work or not but won't hurt anything if not. Just be sure to connect the transistor correctly E-B-C wise.

Heh... if you looked at my location I am in South Africa, no Radioshack here.
I did hunt down the Fairchild model local so I'll order one asap.
EDIT:
Upon new information provided by Zook, who repairs these boards, I have found the correct transistor, a BC547.
Here is an old thread (http://forums.thecustomsabershop.com/showthread.php?t=2258&) with still useful info I want to regurgitate from the bowels of the forum, and I think it should be stickied in the appropriate section.
Many thanks to Zook.
EDIT EDIT:
Darn these things are cheap! I can get minimum 5 for R1.21 ($0.167)!
(I guess thats made in China for you!)

Ah, so sorry on the location.
The BC547 is another good general purpose NPN; should work fine. I usually recommend "2N" type 'cause they're what I'm used to using in all my projects.
Good luck!

Ah, so sorry on the location.
No worries ;)
I ordered some yesterday, so they should be here tomorrow and I'll try them out.
