I recently tore this saber apart to replace the speaker with a TCSS speaker, and ended up doing more.
I added an auxillary clash switch, changed the relay driven circuit to a transistor driven circuit, and replaced the existing power resistor array with a single 1 ohm, 5 watt resistor. The 3xAAA alkalines have been replaced with 3xAAA NIMH (still using a dummy cell)
I have attached some "hi-res" cellphone shots of this saber, as well as a link to a 4th video, this one detailing the auxillary clash switch funtionality of the 2010 Economy boards.
This saber was built for my 17-year old daughter, who aspires to become an Egyptologist.
She didn't want to fork out a bunch of money (but MY money was just fine of course), so I used as many left-over components as I could.
The entire saber has <$50 in parts, with about $20 of that being new money I spent on this particular saber.
Luxeon Rebel Tri-star RED-ORANGE (two of the three LEDS are busted)
2010 Obi-wan Economy sound board
4xAAA battery pack (using 3 alkaline and 1 dummy cell, will take NI-MHx4)
1 1x4" sink tube
Custom blade holder
Leather Wrapped hilt
Braided Leather wrist strap
Low-profile momentary switch
Egyptian style metal detail work and paint.
3/4" White TCSS blade with mirrored tip.
There are three parts to the Cleopatra videos:
1) Video of the electronic and physical components prior to assembly
2) The saber after assembly
3) Video of the blade from the "DARK GARAGE OF DOOM" (TM)
I am also attaching a couple screenshots for those of you who refuse to look at youtube videos, but they are decidedly low-res and really won't give you much of an impression of the saber.
The Cleopatra is *much* smaller and lighter than my personal TOMB BLADE, as befits a teenage girl.
As I mention in the video, I had originally been using a "force action" sound board due to availability and UGG did that those sounds leave something to be desired. I managed to get to Omaha this week (330 miles) and picked up a couple 2010 Obi-Wan economy sabers at ToysRUS. On sale, they were $24 for TWO of them. Hard to beat that price.
