Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone has purchased the Replica brass Graflex top from the shop. I'm curious to know about how it turned out, any complications/suggestions when using it, any pics if you have them. Thanks.

I have one but haven't had a chance to do anything with it yet. I think it has a lot of potiential.

Can you tell if it's like a sleeve?, Or is it designed to be used with the Graflex LED adapter?, How does it connect to other parts (MHS/Sink Tube)? Any dimensions would be great (Length, ID, OD).

Yes, you'd use the Graflex adapter inside it, but it's not a sleeve and it's not really meant to connect to MHS parts or sink tubes, it's meant to connect to the bottom half of other Graflex parts or replica parts.

See the slots on the 2 parts of the full replica? There are tabs on the inside of the clamp that they push into and twist onto to lock them into the clamp.

The lever on the clamp is then tightened to keep the pieces held tight to itself.

It's not to say that you can't be industrious and use it in a build with a sink tube, but I wouldn't recommend it to a beginner.

Like Rhyen said I think this part has alot of potential, I just was never sure of it's intended use. I'm sure I'm not the only one to consider getting "industrial" with this part. So if some one has the dimensions still I think that would help alot of others (including my self) get some ideas for alternate designs.

On a side note is there a reason that only the top is sold seperately if all the peices are needed? (My guess is maybe all the peices were sold separately at one time?)

I think there were brass bottom pieces too, at one time but they are sold out and not being resupplied. I can't remember if there were brass clamps, as well.

I've also seen people make very convincing looking Graflex parts out of sink tube. You need good "dremel fu" to accomplish that, though.

I don't ever remember seeing brass clamps. I am planning on machining a aluminum bottom part for mine. I have just the grip in mind that will look great on it. http://forums.thecustomsabershop.com/showthread.php?t=10860 except with this one I will PC the grips black.

The brass Graflex top's intended use was to combine it with the brass Graflex bottom using the clamp that used to be sold in the shop to make a brass Graflex:

TCSS is out of the other pieces, so the top is all that is left in the store.

Drool...mmm brass. I've been looking at that for a while. I think the brass graflex is a beautiful thing and I'll have to do one eventually.

Love me some Brass-Flex:D There were never any brass clamps. The clamp is made from spring steel so it can flex easy. This is why they rust faster than the Chromed Graflex pieces corrode etc.

Not sure what "dimensions" you're looking for here. Just get one and go nuts, that's how this hobby works. Get stuff. Go nuts. Period.:D

Does it help if you were already nuts before you started this hobby? LOL

I suppose you could get them plated in whatever color you want.
