custom blade retention screw and guarded style switch setup
can't decide on whether to paint-p/c the mhs gear black/flat black/copper...

also before anyone mentions it yes i forgot to tell tim to align the switch hole with this particular BH but it sits right in the sweet spot for thumb activation so its not going to be changed!!! Function over form for this one...

will have red 3w led (not luxeon - not enough juice) running force action board with 5v reed relay setup and 4aaa batteries etc etc. no recharge port or anything fancy for this one but next mhs build will be carefully planned and executed.

just wanted this one to look like a real "used saber" not an engineering masterpiece!!!

Any comments recommendations criticsms would be greatly appreciated...

Remember there is no such thing as constructive criticism - you're either constructive or critical... hehehe

Well, let me be the first to say good job!
I really like the dark emitter and the brass you got there.

Next step if you want to make it look used is weathering (a.k.a. bash it to oblivion  )

Anyway, cant wait to see this one finished!

Looks cool. I like the utilitarian look, the pommel was a good choice. But the force action board is http://www.myemoticons.com/emoticons/images/msn/moods/beingsick.gif.

Get a new 2010 board if you can. They sound SO much better than the force action.

Great job there! It looks terrific, I bet itīs very comfortable to wield. Only thing I would try to add is some black at the grip area (in the narrow grooves, perhaps), but looks pretty nice as it is. Congratulations!

Nice saber. I, for one, like an offset switch. To reiterate what Vazan said; I'd paint those grips. Alternating black and copper would look really cool. I've actually got a similar idea for that grip section with alternating black and brass--when I have enough funds for another saber...

Unfortunately regarding sound we are a bit slim on the choices side of things in Australia... Force action was all I could find!!!

It is very comfy to grip spin wield and the switch is in the sweetest position!

I think the alternating color combo on the main body is a super idea copper/brass in the wide sections and black in the thin grooves with black mhs gear... Me likey! But what to do with the pommel black details me thinks... I got to take it to the powder coater and see what he can do... Anodizing is another option I had...

Cheers for the comments guys keep 'em coming they are very helpful!

It is a very "fine tooth" velcro (the grippy side not the soft fuzzy side-LOL) we use it at work on some tools for grip (and to put up labels) and i always thought it looked great.

i'm going to use thin strips on the body done a quick test run with it and it looks and feels awesome, mhs gear copper, and pommel and BH flat black. thin grooves on body also copper.

Can't wait to finish it!

Below is quick render of where i want to end up:

I think this one's more like it just changed the BH and pommel to copper and mhs gear to black...

Nice BK, funny that gear position looks familiar :)
The velcro grip is a very novel idea, well done for thinking outside the box, we aussies have to keep up the quality of our sabers, and your's certainly does that.

Well done

Thats exactly what i thought when i saw your one!!! Great minds think alike i say... i've had the parts for about a month now but its not until you put it together that you get a real grasp of the mechanics of it all.

I really like the emitter shroud. That style seems to be popping up lately, this is the second one in the last couple days that I have seen.

It's the same style I went with on my first saber (and will always be my only design for my sith character) when I built it a few years ago, sans sound/blade.
