Here's my latest Modular build up. I've always loved the Obi saber so it was a priority of mine to build somthing as close as i could and Tim to da rescue! The only mods are cutting grooves in the rib section for that grenade look. The clamp is one of my replicas that crossing my fingers will be available soon as a kit and by it self for custom applications. Now I'll paint all the pieces and fit it with a MR sound board and blue Lux 3w. Let me know what you think. I'll post some pics now and after painting the parts. The only thing I need to push it over the top would be the pommel. I'm going to try and modify a Luke ROTJ pommel to look like the Obi. I think i can machine the angled section athe top to resemble the correct one. Well here it is[8D]

Looking good, tetmatek!

I look forward to more progress pics.
Are you going to give a high mirror polish, or leave it with the machined look?

Today i got all the electronics installed and running. Inside is a MR Anakin powered by four AAA batteries to a 3W Luxeon LED. The Grenade was modded by me on my machine. I am sure Tim has somthing in mind like that or he does now.lol I'm thinking of polishing the emmitter and semi gloss blac on the body. I'll leave the clamp chrome. I am not sure how I'll install the switch. I want to use the correct bubble on the clamp. Any ideas out there

You could always mount a switch like they have on the MR Luke on the side of the switch box.

EDIT: Woah....beating James to the punch.....no way.....hehhhehehheh

What about a submini pushbutton or slide? you could drill out a spot on the side of the clamp and have the wire feed through in to the hilt. That's assuming you are perma-mounting the clamp to the MHS.

"Do you know how to use that thing?"
"Yes. The pointy end goes into the other man."

ok, i done this on one saber and it worked out ok. i made it in the same type style as the MR's. take one end of the bubble strip, and hollow out underneath one bubble. use a mini slider switch. the switch head will fit right into the hollowed out bubble on the under side. then you can mount the switch inbetween the clamp sides, in a piece of plastic or just hot glue it in place. you will have to adjust the width of the bubble strip so when clamped it will still slide. then just like the Mr, you slide the bubble strip forward or back, to turn on/off. it works, but takes a lil time.

I had thought of that but I can 't find a switch thin enough to fit in between the clamp. I think I am going to attach 1 wire to the saber body and one wire to the clamp. I have a rubber gasket between the clamp and hilt. Using the clamp bolt I will fasion a piece of metal than slides down to complete the circuit. That way I can mount the bubble strip permantly onto a polised plate held by the clamp. I'll post pics after this completed. Thanks for your help.

i was just lucky then, i had some older toys that were messed up and some had a slider switch in it. i found one in one that was small enought to fit inbetween clamp sides. maybe look around at some old toys with slider switches, you might find one that will work.

hey..what about those tiny switches that you gave me. Are those small enough? If so do you have more..and if not..you want the one that you gave me back?

Sorry to bump an old topic, but this saber was enough to convince me to do something very similar and I ordered parts to create one for myself. Obi-Wan's saber was always one of my favorites, and the MR version looks a little too "toylike" for my tastes. Tim's parts fill the bill nicely!

is that like obi's saber from episode 3 or 4

his saber is the same other than the weathering, MR made his from rots but you could easily make it a anh saber

It does... the sabers are the same. The compromises in dimensions for the MHS is more than the silly differences between 3 and 4. It basically is weathering. Based on the graflex clamp and bubbles instead of the board and machined generic clamp it's more ANH though.
