I had to get my tap at ENCO. http://www.use-enco.com/CGI/INSRIT?PARTPG=INSRAR2&PMAKA=891-4979&PMPXNO=3904812

I am not sure what size drill bit to use. I used a boring bar on my mill.

According to McMaster-Carr, the recommended drill size for that tap is 15mm.

Yep. That looks like it. I wasn't able to find any taps that size at any hardware stores locally and had to order online.

yeah those taps arent cheap i looked to. hey wade you could have machined one yourself. lol. get some D2 steel and machine it that way. turn it, bring the end to the point. mount it in your indexer. machine the other end into a square. re mount it in the lathe thread it metrically. then mount it back in the indexer and use a ball endmill to machine two flutes. then all you need to do is heat treat it and viola! you have a tap. im workin on a 5/16 - 32 tap using this method. i could buy one but i would rather machine it and see how i works out ya know?

Why would the hole for the AV need to be threaded? I thought that it was just the nut that holds them..

Some people might want to thread it into the hilt piece to not have to use the nut. It can be done on certain saber designs. He may also want to make a plate to mount it in, instead of using the box 4 or the bezel.
