I had these extra parts laying around ever since Tim released the Jade style grip extension, but never really did anything with them up until a few weeks ago when I finally decided to make a brass saber using those parts. I picked out a blade holder (style 13) and I think it works for this particular design. I had to cut down 23 brass 1/4" screws to fit the grip properly, but I think it was worth it.

It took awhile to decide on a sound board, but after posting the build topic at FX-Sabers, I went with the general opinion expressed by the members and used an MR Jedi board instead of the Ultrasounds I have available. It was much easier to wire up the pommel led and the switch that way anyway. I almost went another route with the battery solution, but decided to keep it simple and just used a 4-AAA holder, and modified the speaker mount for rear venting as I did on CS-26, and then drilled the choke for sound vents, too. It worked out pretty well, and you can certainly "Feel the Force" when you grip this saber by the choke and activate it!

So with out further ado, here is my

Would you believe I completely eye-balled this hole pattern? Well, I did!

I had to modify the brass CT wheel by sanding the dish flat to make it fit on the Jaded grip section. The screws were too close to the CT wheel originally to allow it fit flush as it was designed to. I also added a lock washer to act as a spacer so that the CT wheel fits similar to the one found on a Mace Windu FX.

My camera seems to want to show the pommel led as blue, but it is lighting up a faint purple, actually.

Wow. Awesome saber J. Super shiny. It seems to want a brass colored pommel. That would look perfect. What do you use to get that crazy shine?

I thought the same thing about the pommel! too bad there aren't MHS pommels on brass, eh? (hint, hint, Tim!;) )

To get it that shiny, I sanded the brass tubes with 400 grit paper, then 800, then 1000 and went over them with my rotary tool and a buffing wheel with some Mother's aluminum and mag polish. then hand polished it again. It's uncoated, so it will require polishing to maintain the shine, or it could be left to tarnish for that old, used saber look.

Thanks everybody! I was thinking it might look too plain without any marks or scoring lines on the brass, but then I got to thinking it looked really good with smooth clean brass on it. That and I'd have to take it apart to add lines to the switch body tube. I'm too lazy for that.....;)

Very nice saber Jay-gon. Somewhat reminiscent of Mace Windu's hilt.

In this case listen to your laziness! It looks perfect the way it is! I love the brass/purple combination.

i have to say, your sabers by far are my favorite. I feel that you give all us "new" saber builders something to shot for. your builds are always very clean and professional.

again, I dont like gold/brass. However I would take this saber in a heart beat!

interested in how much this would go for.

Add up the parts in the store to find out. Then add whatever it would cost for you to buy an MR board second hand on ebay.

Jay-Gon, your saber building threads are what inspired me to build my first MHS saber http://forums.thecustomsabershop.com/showthread.php?t=10808 and my PVC ones http://forums.thecustomsabershop.com/showthread.php?t=10746

You are a credit to the hobby. Love your work

I really do like this build, but I'm not crazy about the pommel. It doesn't blend with the style or contrast it. Other then that it looks great to me. Especially the use of brass with purple LED and av switch...very sweet.

I'm new to this "hobby" (or addiction) - how do you attach the shroud to the actual saber?

The one on the emitter is held by epoxy, the one on the switch section is press fit and secured by the switch.

DJ, I got the switch form an online computer modification site....I'd post the link but since Tim sells similar products, I think that'd be bad form on my part.
