Rechargeable?

anyone figure out to make your saber rechargeable using batteies that all you do is plug in a jack into the saber to recharge it

well. It shouldnt be too incredibly hard. My suggestion:

1)go to any toys r' us, and go to the remote control car section.
2)buy a 'spare' rechargeable battery, and buy a replacement recharger.

Watch the voltage and everything on it, make sure it will match up to what you'd run your saber off of with regular batteries.

Just think about it though, theres a lot that runs off recharge batteries, cordless phones too, though setting a recharger for it would be rougher, but if you were savy you could probably make the recharger prongs come off the butt of the saber hilt, and you can just stand it up in a recharging 'cradle' you can make yourself.

I have 4aa rechargeable packs on the way. Its the only easy way to fit 4aa in my new hilt designs. They are 2100ah Nimh packs, just need to find a inexpensive charger for them..anyone got any ideas? I am not to up on battery technology.

Tim, Malwart sells a 4 pack of AA with a charger for about 20 bucks. Considerring that the 4 AA run about 10 bucks without a charger, I'd say $10 for the charger is not bad, only if you have the need for 4 rechargeable AA. On the other hand, I'm not sure it would work because the charger is configured to recharge the batteries individually. I guess we need a 6 volt charger. Hmm, no, 4.8 volts since the recheargeables are 1.2, not 1.5. Most cordless phones I've seen run on 3.6(3 X 1.2).
Hmmm, meditate on this, I will.

Edit: I thought you wrote AAA. So, I guess, all you need is to find an 8 pin conector and reconfigure the charger. Still not sure.

The 4aaa holders fit fine..just no 4aa holders. Yes I need one that can charge packs not individual batterys.

How about taking the charger from Walsmart and soldering wires from the +/- ends of the battery holders on either ends of the charger and connect them to the female end of a plug. Then solder connections in between each individual battery compartment inbetween on the charger (I think the batteries of this type of charger are connected in series, so it should work). Put a male plug end on your saber and you can connect it easily. This may not be pretty, but it would be cheap.

You can buy this rechargable battery setup from a hobbie shop that sells RC Planes/ Cars. They use 4 cell packs and they come in all differnt sizes & volts. Check out

Here is a really cheap charger that matches what you/we need. It is only a trickle charger though, and not sure if it is ok for NiMH.

well. if i figured it right, you'll have to have 5 nicad batteries as each is only 1.2 volts. so youd have to have a 5 nicad battery pack. thats is if i figured that right. the equivalent of 4 AA should be 5 nicad's.

the LED's will run fine off of 4.8v..after all we run them off of 4.5 in the master replica conversions
