Guarded Switch Hole Size

What is the size of the drill bit I would need to drill a guarded switch hole?

That depends on whether or not you plan to use the retaining nut. If you do, 1/2" will work. If not, and this is what I do because it's a real PITA to get that nut tight enough to prevent the switch from rotating in the hole, use a 7/16" bit and force fit the switch into the hole.
