I've got my hilt parts on the way currently and I'm looking at what I'm thinking for the electronics. Not sure if I should have listed this in the LED electronics section or not, but since this seemed the place for parts lists....

Phase 1: Relatively simple lighted blade:

DPDT Latching red illuminated switch (realize I will need some sort of resiter for this)
Luxeon III Star (Red)
Luxeon Collimator Lens 5 deg viewing angle
Luxeon III/V Lens Holder
BuckPuck 700mA 4-wire
4AA Battery holder
LED "TCSS style" Battle blade 1" OD
Star thermal tape pad
2 Wire quick connector

Phase 2: Adding Sound
I've got a complete sound / LED blade out of a older Vader FX saber, I think its a 07. I was thinking of taking the sound board from that and integrating it into the saber. Would it be worth it - or would it be better to use it in some other saber that I could take advantage of the LED chain style blade from it?

Thanks for the assistance.

A single 700mA buck puck is only giving that LED about half the current that it wants.

I didn't want to do a simple resistor - from what I've looked at on the forums the puck is the way to go - so other than upping it to 2 pucks, does the rest look "ok"? Is there a better option that I'm missing?

Get a Ten degree lens for your 1" blade. It will give a brighter 1" blade.

"let more light 'in'"? Not sure what you mean by that. A 10 degree lens will let more light hit the diffuser on the sides of the blade, as opposed to making more of it go up the blade.

I've got a saber with an amber Lux 3 that has 2 of the 700mA buck pucks in it. You want to wire them in parallel, for increased current.

Whaat? I never said that... :p

Sorry for bringing this one back up -
Will a single 1000-buckpuck work or need to stick with dual 700's in parallel?

On a side note - I've got the basic wiring done this past weekend (with a resitor for now)
Illum. switch & accent LED.

Dual for sure

I admit I'm new to all this, but wouldn't you be better off spending the extra $5 and getting the Adjustable Driver (http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/Adjustable-LED-driver-P497.aspx) board instead of 2 buckpucks?

Well that is a very good question - to me it seems reasonable to spend the extra $5 for the driver board (blasted RED LED's =) ).
Seem like a good idea to the experts out there?

Stryder says go, and he knows everything. He made/commissioned the 1400mA board. Hooray for the shoutbox...^_^

(PS - check the resistor chart on the shop, the red you want might draw as much as 1525mA; in which case, set it to 1500mA and rock it out.
PPS - expect to chew through batteries with a vengeance, that's a LOT of juice)
