This is going to sound really stupid, but where do you guys get wire? the smallest I could find at radioshack was 18 gauge, and that's way too thick, bending the wire breaks the solder. I've been using wire from one of those old electronic project sets, but that can only last so long.

my radioshack sells like 50 ft of wire lol and really thin and perfect wires

Some Radio Shantys have 22 and 24 guage wire and some don't. Have you tried Lowes and Home Depot in the bulk wire section?
I get my wire in VERY large amounts since I use it for wiring homes and businesses as well as the project saber here and there. You should be able to look for 22/2 stranded alarm wire/speaker wire it will most likely be on a spool with a grey(gray) jacket.

yeah, my RS store had the 3 pack rolls of red/green/black colored wires in 22 to 24 gage. and that is what im using in my sabers.
