Well I had a lot of stuff left over from makeing a lightsaber wall display and decided to do something with it and this is the result.
Parts: Aluminum angle
1/8" plexi
Laser etched crystal display light
3 n cell batteries and holders
1" polyc tube
5 round mirror pieces
There is a 3x3x3" outer cube with a 2x2x2" inner cube. The inner cube houses the batteries and the rgb set up from the display. It shifts through the color spectrum when turned on and looks interesting. The decoration is made from the left over pieces from cutting the ends of the angle peices to the proper angle. Well here are some pics a link to the wip pics and a vid link.

This is the bottom there are 2 8-32x5/16" set screws that hold the bottom in place. The spot in the center looks different because it is not a mirror like the other 5 but just sharpie to hid the tac switch underneath.

this is an incredible work of craftsman ship. now if you could make this out of clear acryllic with fogger pieces and have em light up internally.

AWESOME!

It looks as if its ambiently storing its information, yet somehow learning more.

Why would you need sounds? There are no holocron sound effects anyway.

Cool! I've been thinking that would be a cool project to tackle one day. I've seen a few. I suppose someone could figure out how to pull some voice clips/phrases to add so the holocron "speaks." What would be awesome is if someone put a tiny viewable video display in there that actually showed pics or videoclips.

That's cool. But I would have tried to use something reflective that was translucent, instead of those mirrors, that kind of ruins the effect a little, for me.

I've seen a wooden holocron with an older version of a CF board in it. :p

that is very well executed. i was actually thinking about making one myself as soon as finals are over, but i want to try a pyramid shaped one. i like the silvery look.

and i just watched the video on youtube showing the holocron Jedi-Loreen just mentioned. it was awesome, when it is turned on it says "welcome force user".

Damn that's cool. I've been wanting to make one as well, but alas lack the tools and skill. I think it would be cool to have one with one of those action figure "holographic" Yodas on top, and a soundboard from the the interactive yoda figurine.

Hey... I have one of those Yes/No Yoda things.

It speaks like a recorded voice... and says things about the force.

You just gave me an idea. ©
