Is there an easy way to convert from latching to momentary (And vice versa)? Is it just a jumper or something, or is it a total design change?

As of yet I haven't seen anyone come up with a good solution to it... Do-Clo posted a way for using the Hasbro and EL, but the opposite like a Momentary Corbin and a Latching FX seems to be too much work and you are probably better off getting a new one, sorry.

Before posting did you check the Thread Index (http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/sabers/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=577)?.

Thanks.. not a big deal. I developed a "kit" for a club I'm in, and when I did there was no latching option.. so of course when everyone ordered their parts they chose the wrong one so my switches won't work. Hehe, murphy's law.

Tim has new switches coming. J-Lo and I asked him to get these for us. Basically they are the opposite of his latching on/off switches.

For these new switches, with the saber off, if you press the button slightly the blade WILL light up and then if you latch it down it will stay on. With the blade lit up, if you press the button slightly the blade WILL NOT go out. If you accidentally touch it NOTHING happens, unlike the current switches.

For the current switches, with the saber off, if you press the button slightly the blade WILL NOT light up and then if you latch it down it will light up and stay on. With the blade lit up, if you press the button slightly the blade WILL go off, until you stop touching it.

This means that if you need a momentary on to activate the Hasbro sound card this switch might work....maybe not, but it is by far the best switch to duel with J-Lo and I have ever found.

The switch is still latching it is just a difference between normally open and normally closed.

Don, I believe in this case that this definition of "latching" may be an electronic one, not a physical one.

At least that's always what I thought.
I could be wrong though.

Your right on. The funny thing about this is Don brought this switch up months ago and I thought he was having a problem, didn't even think about it being a N/O-N/C issue untill Ultra pointed out those old square RS switches. [:I]

But yes you are correct in what I think everyone is referring to with the latching/momentary thing.

I'm working on a potential solution, I'll let you know how it goes soon. I found a very small, low-signal latching relay on Digikey that I think will fit the bill here. Trouble is, its designed to go in a circuit board, so I have to breadboard it together with the driver and switch. I will keep you informed.

That's really lame though... an unlatch and a latch switch. You might as well use two, one for the momentary aspect and the other for the latching.
