First construction just to work out dimensions etc, is pictured with dooku fx blade, no optics and a cheap 3w red led powered by 3 AAAs. Not bad i believe, will be updated with lux III, 5 degree lens, buckpuck/resistor, and tcss blade. Now i just have to order the stuff but because shipping to Australia is an arm and a leg thought id wait and order alot of bits and pieces for further builds at once to minimize the impact on the hip pocket. Don't have plans for sound in this one but will do the full works with the next one. Anyone know where i can buy sinktubes from in australia?

I have to say thanks to Jay-Gon Jinn as it was his pvc tutorial that i more or less followed so cheers!!

handle feels great to grip and yes the blade holder screw will be changed

Uneven blade illumination - no optics... yet

pommel pic and if you concentrate really hard you can see the little black tactile switch in the centre
pommel cap is a gear from a nitro rc car... old spares put to use

yeah i wont be changing the blade holder but the screw/nut itself... i want a metal "gear" instead of a plastic one just have to drill one out tap it and loctite a grub screw into it....

cheers for all the supportive comments people makes building these things all the more satisfying.

This is a great PVC saber! Are the just colors painted on?

It needs a mate so they can become one double...

Love the look of the hilt, looks like it could be an asain sword hilt save being round.

no theres no paint they're just som split bushings and orings and they came together on this saber i really like the samurai hilts so i tried to replicate it... would love to build an mhs hilt and have this design showing through some cutouts etc. Cant wait to get it all together!!!

i also agree with the double... that would look insane...

but i want to make a curved pvc first and then i think the double and when my skills in saber construction improve i think i'll delve into a sinktube/mhs but i have a long way to go!!!

really cool looking saber, very sithy.
I am also trying to source sink tubes in Oz, haven't found any as yet, and if they exist, they will probably be a different size than the US ones. You may have to go to a specialist bathroom supplies shop to get one.
I found that when I made my PVC sabers, I had to source polycarb blades here at 22mm OD rather than 1".

The grip and pommel on this are really cool. Very resourceful.

hey Sloda can you let me know where you sourced the polycarb tubes from in oz??

i want to try my hand at building my own blade if possible... any info would be greatly appreciated.

oh and if this is politically incorrect i apologise in advance just that there isnt a great heap of options for us here in oz and yes i will be buying a heap of stuff including blades from the store... planning on building alooooot of sabers in the future... hehehe :p

Thanks Sloda email received... Have installed optics into hilt and changed the blade retention took some pics and will be posting soon... Must say very bright and even fx blade but with nice flare effect. Surprised actually just have to get Tcss blade into it and see. Have made an mhs order so can't wait for that I just couldn't help myself!!!

Careful, this hobby gets addictive. I have just got my MHS saber together with basic electronics and buck puck, waiting on a CF5 to be released. Need to work on my sink tube sleeve then I can polish it and at least have the sabre ready for the CF if I manage to get one.
Looking forward to seeing your updated pics

That looks great, just like a bought one...actually better than most bought ones I have seen :)
nice even lighting on the blade. Is that one from the supplier I mentioned?

It's my fx dooku blade which has some cellophane diffusion but it lights up pretty well with the cheapo 3w I've got in there... Might just leave it in and get a new blade from tcss

Totally...I can't wrap my head around how you did this but I'm sure a huge part of it is local materials available. I've never seen anything like those red pieces and the top and bottom "cap" or connectors or what ever they are look cool too.

I love the RC gear pommel, makes it very individual which is the whole point of saber building. The Jedi and Sith were supposed to make their sabers from whatever they could find lying around...speeder bike handles, power cell parts etc.
This makes my PVC sabers look a bit pedestrian
