Hey, do you guys know of any way to secure the blade other than a thumbscrew? It seems to me that it's slightly bulky and gets in the way of certain designs.

U can use a set screw....just have to keep the allen wrench handy.

Sorry, I meant a thumbscrew... I'll edit that...

Yeah, an allen wrench sounds fine. So... how would I go about drilling that as opposed to the regular thumbscrew?

well, i picked up 8-32 set screws and hence i just used the same stuff i use to put in the thumb screw.

drilling and tapping for a ser screw is exactly the same as for a thumb screw, if you have a 10-32 thumbscrew, a 10-32 set screw has the same threads.

Countersink it if you want it to be flush to the hilt.

Just take a drill bit that’s slightly bigger than the head of the screw and drill out the hole the same depth as the screw head.

If that doesn’t make sense tell me, I’ll try to elaborate.

There are countersink drill bits that make it much easier to do because you drill the hole and the countersink at the same time.

Why would you need to counter sink a set screw? It has no head, just screw it down flush with the emitter.

He's talking about using them to hold the blade, not in the hilt itself.

Ahh, yes that would work well...

I was thinking a screw like the one at the emitter end of the MR Anakin.

Allan-head is so much easier to say...[:p]
Edit: Well then again, the set screw is also an Allan-head, so I suppose that would prevent confusion.

One think that you will learn in life no matter what you call it, after all it is still a screw and the fact is you either have a screw or you need one.

I was thinking of using a piece of spring steel attached to a peg that would go through the hilt and into the blade. Kind of like a vacuum cleaner hose. Do you guys think it would hold the blade securely enough?
