Went to my local electronics place and found the following reed switch and I was wondering if its suitable to use for the cheap Hasbro setup:

Philmore Open Reed Switch
SPDT ON-ON
Current Rating: 1A-150VDC
Power Rating: 20 Watts
Breakdown Voltage: 200VDC
Operating time: 2.5ms

Its the 2nd one on this PDF:

This looks like a magnetic glass tube relay/sw which are very fragile. Are you trying to use a magnet to turn it on? I would go with a plastic housed relay. Digi key has a ton.

Missed the magnet part, oh well.

The problem is finding a 1000ma, 6v reed relay to use with the cheap Hasbro soundboard. Since the soundboard only puts out 350ma most LEDs will be underpowered. Oh well, time to keep looking.

Here this one should work. Good size too.:)

Oops that one is latching. Here's a normal one.

What's the switcing current?

I can't find that in the description...

These are 2A max for the contacts & 33ma coils.

most excellent.

We finally have a hasbro relay.

Nice job Sunrider, I can't navigate digikey... to frustrating.

Just ordered 3 so lets see how they work.

Received them from Digi-Key last night and I'm getting ready to wire it up using cardcollector's diagram but I wanted to be sure I'm wiring the reed relay up correctly.

This is the diagram for the DS1E-S-DC6V:

Cardcollector's diagram for reference:

So using cardcollector's diagram I would hook the soundboard LED- to post 6, the Batt+ to post 1 and then where would I hook the soundboard LED+ and then Lux III+? I'll admit the concept of Normally Open, Normally Closed still confuse me sometimes.

If you were to use this setup with the new hasbro cheap board would the 3.7 be enough juice?

I'm using x4 AAA for 6v, I just CC's diagram as a basis since its adaptable to most setups.

I did mess up however on the reed switch wiring - so help with what gets wired where would be appreciated.

Using the terminal numbers from your relay schematic on CC's wiring diagram I believe it would hook up like this:

Yes, they need 3.5V to operate...
though 4.5-4.8V will work better.

Wired it up that way and the Reed Relay isn't working. Played around with alternate posts but nothing their either. Sigh.

The sound works great on 1 and 6, have the main battery + on 7 but putting the LED+ on 12 didn't work, it wouldn't switch. Tried the LED+ on 1 and the NC but, it was lit all the time.

Check to see how much voltage you are getting at the LED out pins when turned on.

Well,
NO= the circut is _/ _ or broken
NC= The circut i ___ or completed.

Now, this is my speculation...
COM (common) is going to the correct place.

Maybe 12 needs to go the the board +, and the NO goes to the main LED...

Good luck...

I ordered one of those relays from mouser this week, it arrives tomorrow. I'll try wiring it up over the weekend. We'll see what happens.

What sound board are you using Dakarn?
I tried the hook-up I posted above (post #12) using the DS1E-S-DC6V (http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Panasonic/DS1E-S-DC6V/?qs=sEN%2fkO1EG6a9cuOiOAodKA%3d%3d) relay that Sunrider found with a 2010 DVD Anakin and it did not work, even combining all three LED's. This relay did work with a Force Action Obi-Wan.
I think the new Anakin boards don't put enough current through the coil to activate this relay.
I tried the new Anakin with a JWS-117-1 (http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Tyco-Electronics-PB/JWS-117-1/?qs=sGAEpiMZZMv4tz1TW%2fArE4mGdvW5WwrPkzLj6m0m3UI% 3d) relay and it did not work off one LED, I had to combine at least two LED's from the board to get it to work, but it worked.
Also tried a 275-232 (http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062478) Radio Shack relay and it worked on the Anakin off just one LED.
