Hey everyone,

I searched the forum for this but coudln't find an answer, and there is no diagram for it.
I was wondering how to run the Red Rebel (max 700 mA, 3.5V) over a 6V battery. Which resistor or BuckPuck do I need?

Well, you could use this Buck puck:

You'll have to use a formula to figure out what resistor you'd need.

A buck puck is more efficient and will keep a constant current output, unlike a resistor.

Noice! Thanks.:p

What about Voltage?

The buck puck will only output the voltage that the particular LED needs to take from it.

Alrite, could've figured that one out as well if I would just think for a minute:rolleyes:

Hopefully I'll have my own first lightsaber soon

Use a 1000mA buckpuck. The rebels can take up to 1000mA at their max rating.

Hey guys I'm upgrading to the Rebel, but I did not find it on the resistor chart. Any one know off hand what I would need or could link me to a place I can find it.

P.S. I don't have much room for a buck puck, and I can get resistors cheap down the street lol.

Thanks all.

And I already talked to you in the Shoutbox, too. ;)

Finding an online resistor calculator is not hard. I found this nifty little one that has colors to tell you what the numbers are that you're plugging into it and there they are in the circuit. :)

I had read elsewhere on the forum (I can't find it right now, I found this thread looking for it.) that the Luxeon 3w driver v2 will not be able to fully illuminate the Luxeon Rebel.

I was curious if there is a board sold in the store that can take full advantage of the Rebel?

Or for right now, is it best to stay with a 1000mA?

EDIT::: would this do it with no dimming, as long as it was set to 1000mA? http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/Adjustable-LED-driver-P497.aspx

((also I double checked, this is not a necro post.))

Where did you read that? I've never heard that. The 3w v2 driver will drive it just fine.

The only red led that would not be fully powered by the 3w driver is the Luxeon III red, not the Rebel red. The Luxeon III red requires 1500ma of drive current to reach it's maximum rated brightness, but the 3w driver will only provide 1000ma, which is fine for a Rebel red.
