In the thread I linked to there is a link to the creator's web page (Stuart Immonen) I found his page, e-mailed him for some info, and was able to build one of my own.
He also has Luke and Vader models as well....no instructions though.

lol, yes! The lego/knex saber. I've seen this before.

Now you just need one of those Lego Mindstorm computers and hook one up to one of those fiber optic lego strands for the blade :D .
