Hello all, this is my ongoing project of making good looking model of SSD Executor in 3D. It has no textures, and it doesn't have the bridge thingy.
It has some polygon errors, they are to be fixed.
Here's some pics

This is the trial of Autodesk 3ds Max 2010 32-bit. I redownload it all the time, but it's worth it.

Update time for the engines!!! I went to wookiepedia yesterday, and there it said that executor had 13 engines. Well, the order of the old engines was suck as well, so here's an update!!!

Still needs ton of detail added near the back..

Update time again!!
I did 2 "blocks", and I can tell you, they take long to make due to all minor detail and thingys. These 2 blocks are not finished just yet. They are still missing some minor detail.

Look really cool. Are you going to texture it when its done?

I really love the little details youve put in there keep it up :)

For Darth Kehel: (Though Im not good at it) Yes I am going to texture it when it's done.

Another block done!! I call this one "Ship Repair & Factory" Block.
I also did a low-poly Imperial Star Destroyer (ISD) and a low-poly TIE fighter.

And I also did find some other models of executor, but the superstructure of them is just boxes after boxes. I will make it this way.

Your modeling skills are coming along just fine. But I think you need help with lighting. your current setup doesn't show off much of the work you are putting in, which is a shame. you may try some radiosity or occlusion, or even more than one source of lighting. I think that will make things pop for you.

Thanks for the tip!

man dude! this is coming along incredible!!!! wonderfull work! man next to simple star destroyer this is GIGANTIC!

in the book death troopers they made the star destroyer seem HUGE. imagine this thing. it would be like a continent!!!!

is this project just for fun or what? i think you need to add in the interior to. all the hallways and utilities. down to the refresher units.

Rafalema

I really would like to add the interiors, but it would get kinda laggy due to the amount of polys. When I get better comp, I'll see what I can do.

Thanks for the feedback!

what is it with you and star destroyers anyway? lol

Rafalema

they're just so beautiful and the same time they are scary, complex, they're fast, and they carry Stormtroopers and Sith Lords. (lol?)

Update time!!

I modeled some detail to the Command Bridge.

It's Über-Ultra-Mega-Super-High Poly. (15 000 polygons without shield generators.)

Just a quick rendering test.

I will od all my renders like this from now on.

Things are coming along nicely. I've got another quick tip for you on your renders. I assume you're using light tracer with a skylight to get your clay style render. That's what I do whenever I do a test render. Instead of using a gray material I would switch it to a white material, that will help with differentiating shadows from the rest of the model. Plus I never use a black background, I would change it to either a medium to light gray or white.

Blue Fox

yep yep! that's what I do ^_^

But, that is looking much more professional and serious now :D
Now that we have the rendering sorted, let's see more building ;)

Update time for another block. I think this might be something like "Battle Control" block or something like that.

The backround is one of my favourite backrounds, named "Kappa Space". You can get it by googling it.

The small hangar in the bridge will be filled with some Low-Poly bounty hunter ships (EP V, where Vader gets some bounty hunters to help him find the Falcon) And most propably with a TIE Advanced X-1.

Next renders will also have some (cool) planet in the backround... :D

That's it for today

Next time the big white plane will not be so big.

This is a random render with my new cool backround. The stars are not just a backround pic, they are pics inside a huge cylinder that is around The Executor.

I got the Death Star (And it's textures from 3D Warehouse) It is not my model.

I think this one's pretty coooool.
