Hey all....I normally spend my time over at FX-Sabers.com, but since I am starting builds I may hang out here more a bit...

Here is my firstborn. ;)

This saber is for one of my upper ranking adult martial arts students whose name is Donna. She also takes my LED saber classes, and wanted an upgrade from her current stunt saber. I had a lot of fun with this build, and learned a great deal from all the troubleshooting, etc. Thanks to Jay-Gon Jinn for his build logs which taught me a GREAT DEAL...and a very special thanks Novastar and LDM for their help, support and inspiration. I look forward to many more builds to come.

Specs:

MHS acquired off of EvilBay already powder coated.
Lux III Cyan (I am guessing a Bin 2)
MR Luke ANH soundboard
TCSS Premium Speaker
4 AAA battery pack

It's very comfortable with that choke. The pommel makes it just a tad uneven IMO, but that's the one that my student wanted. I would have opted for pommel 4 if it were my own as I think it follows the overall design...but she likes it and that's all that matters.

Build #2 is already underway...#3 and #4 are already planned. :p

Nice job, Caine! Wiring up an MR/HSS FX board isn't as difficult as you might think, is it?

Not in the least bit...especially when I was going by YOUR very clear and precise diagram that is on here. ;) So a big thanks to you for that!

LDM's workshop made me do it, ya know!

Caine, I always knew you were gonna get into saber building. It was just a matter of when. You can't just collect custom sabers and not want to build your own. Eventually you just get an itch to try your hand at it and see what you can do. Lookin forward to #2!

Okie, updated...

Okay, time to raise this thread from the dead, as this saber has been re-done.

After many months of many builds, I always thought back to this saber, and realized that, although the saber worked okay, it wasn't built the way it should of been...and since I was a n00b builder, of course I didn't know entirely what I was doing. So this weekend, I asked Donna if I could rebuild my firstborn, and she agreed.

Upon opening her up, an audible GASP went throughout my house. Spaghetti wiring :x 22 gauge wire :x bad heat shrink :x.....the list can go on. It is a miracle this saber didn't short out. Plus, I had put a PVC chassis in that made it near impossible to get the battery pack out. (WHAT WAS I THINKING?)

Okay, time for redemption. ;)

I rewired the entire saber from the ground up, used proper wire size, redid every connection, heat shrank and hot glued the proper places and finally heat shrank the board (no shorts here, dude). I also added a VERY BRIGHT aqua crystal pommel (a la LDM) and changed out the style pommel. This saber is very loud, very bright, and is going to get a huge dose of saberplay... and I know Donna is going to love it.

All other specs remain the same.

I feel better...now I can go to bed.

Very nice work. Very sleek design. If I'm mistaken I'm sorry but have you been building since January? You're a quick study. The force is strong with this one.

Yeah, I should have taken pics. But no sense in further embarrassing myself,

I am also lucky to have good friends that help me out a lot, while at the same time making me do my homework (erv,, LDM, Nova)

I like the hilt especially, very clean, with a lot of circular accents (pommel lights, lighted switch, hilt machining). Yeah, sabers are cylindrical, but you know what I mean.

Good clean lines.
